🎧 HR Insights: Political Tension Becomes Part of HR’s Daily Challenges

Workplace political fights—on social media, internal messages, or social issues—are increasingly spilling into professional settings. This puts HR in the center of culture conflicts. As expectations around acceptable speech shift, HR leaders are being asked to navigate policy, fairness, employee feelings, and organizational reputation all at once.

💡 HR Tips & Tricks

Tip of the Day: Create a “Company Values Visual Storyboard” where employees contribute images, sketches or quotes that show what company values look like in action. Display it physically (break rooms) or digitally (screensavers or intranet). This helps make values tangible.

Trick of the Day: Offer a quarterly “Fresh Eyes Survey”—invite employees from unrelated teams to anonymously review one HR process (onboarding, performance reviews, feedback loops) and suggest improvements. This outside perspective often reveals blind spots HR insiders miss.

🧾 HR Case Files - AI Helps Walmart CPO Find Talent Faster

Walmart’s Chief People Officer, Donna Morris, has adopted AI tools to speed up searches for leadership roles. These tools are used selectively—for example when starting searches for HR or tech leadership positions—and not across all hiring. In addition, Walmart piloted an AI Interview Coach that asks candidates questions and provides feedback. These moves reflect how AI is being used experimentally to enhance speed, widen candidate pools, and improve hiring clarity.

Key Takeaways

  • Using AI selectively (for leadership and hard-to-fill roles) reduces risk while showing potential.

  • AI tools like interview coaches can improve candidate experience and readiness.

  • Speed and ease are major benefits, but human judgment is still required to validate outcomes.

  • Pilots and small-scale experiments give organizations data before scaling broadly.

Resource of the Day - Would Your Workforce Recommend HR? Using NPS to Measure Service Quality

An article by Elissa Tucker and Nathanael M. Vlachos at APQC suggests HR functions should use the Net Promoter Score (NPS) as a tool to understand how employees perceive HR service quality. As HR becomes more distributed—via chatbots, outsourcing, cloud platforms, etc.—it becomes harder to know whether employees feel supported. Measuring HR “promoter” scores (how likely staff are to recommend HR’s service) can give fast feedback. Mediocre NPS signals where HR might need process improvements, training, or system upgrades. The authors recommend using NPS alongside follow-up questions and other performance metrics to provide context and actionable insight.

Event of the Day

The International Conference on Human Resources (ICOHR-25) will take place in San Francisco on October 14–15, 2025, hosted by the Atlantic Federation for Technical Education & Research (AFTER). The event will bring together academics, industry experts, and HR professionals from across the globe to exchange insights, share research, and explore the latest innovations in the field.
